• Head of School Candidate 4 Visit (April 8-9)

  Dr. Kwiterovich currently serves as the Assistant Head of School at Gilman School in Baltimore, MD. He has also served as the Head of Middle School at Gilman School. 

  
  

  In addition, Dr. Kwiterovich has been Director of Breakthrough Norfolk and a mathematics instructor at Norfolk Academy, mathematics instructor, Director of Summer Session, and Associate Director of Admissions at Cardigan Mountain School, and a science instructor and Dean of Students at Gilman School. 

  
  

  Dr. Kwiterovich is a member of Bryn Mawr School Parent Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and was a presenter at National Association of Independent Schools on Data-Informed Wellness: Creating Collective Responsibility for Positive School Culture. 

  
  

  Dr. Kwiterovich has a Bachelor of Arts in Natural Sciences from The Johns Hopkins University, a Master of Education in Guidance and Counseling from Loyola College, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Policy, Planning, and Leadership from The College of William and Mary.

• Head of School Candidate 3 Visit (April 2-3)

  The YCDS Search Committee invites you to meet Heidi Hutchison, M.Ed., a prospective candidate for the Head of School position.
  
  

  Ms. Hutchison currently serves as the PK–8 Principal at Friends School of Baltimore, a coeducational Quaker independent school. She leads over 90 faculty and staff and supports more than 900 families and 456 students. She is the first person in the school’s 250-year history to unify two divisions into one cohesive PK–8 program.
  
  

  Ms. Hutchison holds a B.S. in Education from the University of Delaware and an M.Ed. in School Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania, where she was an AIMS Scholarship recipient.

  In her current role, she restructured both the student support and leadership teams and led curriculum alignment across PK–8. She also oversaw a $13 million Lower School renovation project, including the implementation of flexible classroom furnishings to better support student-centered learning.
  
  

  Ms. Hutchison has presented nationally on project-based learning, identity development, and adolescent wellness. She has been a lead facilitator of professional development in the areas of SEL, digital wellness, and leadership coaching, and her work has been featured in several education publications. She co-chairs a committee on teacher feedback and evaluation and serves on the board of the Conflict Resolution Center of Baltimore County.

  The YCDS Search Committee invites you to meet Jonathan Kidder, a perspective candidate for the Head of School position.
  
  

  Dr. Kidder has been a Global Ambassador for the National Association of Independent Schools since July, 2024. Previously, he was the Head of School at the Barrie School in Silver Spring, MD from 2017-2024, the Head of School at Park Day School in Oakland, CA from 2013-2017, Assistant Head for Teaching and Learning at Drew School in San Francisco, CA from 2011-2013, Assistant Head of School and Secondary Director at Pilgrim School in Los Angeles, Ca from 2007-2011, and co-founder, teacher, and Director of Outdoor Education at Polytechnic School in Pasadena, CA from 1996-2007.

  
  

  Dr. Kidder has also taught history in a California public school, coordinated National Science Foundation initiatives on elementary science education and computer-based software for college level geology, and taught children ages 2-5 in his undergraduate college’s preschool.   

  
  

  Dr. Kidder has a B.A. in American Studies from Hampshire College in Amherst, MA and a Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from University of California, Los Angeles.

• Head of School Candidate 1 Visit (March 20-21)

  The YCDS Search Committee invites you to meet Doug Key, a perspective candidate for the Head of School position.
  
  

  Mr. Key is currently the sitting Head of School at York School in Monterey, California since 2019. York School is a co-ed grades 8-12 school with 225 students. Before York School, Mr. Key served as Assistant Head of School for Admission and Financial Aid from 2016-2019, Head of Upper School from 2002-2016, and a member of the history faculty from 1999-2015. 

  
  

  In addition to his role as a senior administrator at York School, Mr. Key serves currently as a Board Member for All Saints Day School in Carmel, CA, Monterey Rotary member, and has served on the California Association of Independent Schools accreditation team as a team member and co-chair, the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest accreditation team, a Fellow for the National Association of Independent Schools Fellowship for Aspiring School Heads, and Board Member for the Independent Curriculum Group.

  
  

  Mr. Key has a B.A. in History and M.A. in History, all from the University of New Mexico.
